(a) Except as provided in subsection (b), after July 1, 2006, a county or a municipality (as defined in IC 36-1-2-11) of the county may not adopt an ordinance implementing a licensing system for dogs unless the county option dog tax under this chapter is in effect in the county.(b) If:(1) a county adopted an ordinance implementing a licensing system for dogs:(A) after December 31, 2006; and(B) before February 1, 2007; and(2) the county did not first adopt the county option dog tax;the ordinance is legalized.As added by P.L.162-2006, SEC.36.
