(a) Except as provided in subsection (b), an application for a certificate of title for a vehicle for which a certificate of title has been issued previously must be accompanied by the previously issued certificate of title.(b) An application for a certificate of title submitted only to remove a satisfied lien is not required to be accompanied by the previously issued certificate of title if the application is accompanied by a written instrument:(1) on the lienholder's letterhead;(2) identifying the vehicle identification number; and(3) stating that the lien has been satisfied.(c) An application for a certificate of title for a vehicle for which a certificate of title has not been issued previously must be accompanied by the following:(1) If the vehicle is in Indiana, a manufacturer's certificate of origin as provided in IC 9-32-5-3.(2) If the vehicle is brought into Indiana from another state, the following:(A) A sworn bill of sale or dealer's invoice fully describing the vehicle.(B) The most recent registration receipt issued for the vehicle.(C) Any other information that the bureau requires to establish ownership.(d) A certificate of title may be possessed either in
