Head lamps arranged to provide a single distribution of light are permitted on motor vehicles manufactured and sold before March 9, 1956, instead of the multiple-beam road-lighting equipment specified in this chapter, if the single distribution of light meets the following requirements:(1) The head lamps must be aimed so that when the vehicle is not loaded none of the high-intensity part of the light will:(A) at a distance of twenty-five (25) feet ahead, project higher than a level of five (5) inches below the level of the center of the lamp from which light comes; and(B) at a distance of seventy-five (75) feet ahead, project higher than forty-two (42) inches above the level on which the vehicle stands.(2) The intensity must be sufficient to reveal persons and vehicles at a distance of at least two hundred (200) feet.[Pre-1991 Recodification Citation: 9-8-6-25.]As added by P.L.2-1991, SEC.7.
