455B.218 Duration of certificates — fee — renewal. Certificates shall be for the multiyear period determined by the director unless sooner revoked by the director, but the certificates remain the property of the department and the certificate shall so state. The fee for issuance of certificates as determined under section 455B.221 shall be prorated on a quarterly basis for any original certificate issued for a period of less than twelve months. A person who fails to renew a certificate prior to its expiration shall be allowed to renew it within thirty days following its expiration, but the director may assess a reasonable penalty as established by rule.
