455B.486 Facility siting. The commission shall adopt rules establishing criteria for the identification of sites which are suitable for the operation of low-level radioactive waste disposal facilities. The department shall apply these criteria, once adopted, to identify and recommend to the commission sites suitable for locating facilities for the disposal of low-level radioactive waste. The commission shall accept or reject the recommendation of the department.
