481A.137 Abandonment of dead or injured wildlife. 1. While taking or attempting to take game or fur-bearing animals, a person shall not abandon an injured game or fur-bearing animal without making a reasonable effort to retrieve the animal from the field. A person shall not leave a useable portion of game or a fur-bearing animal in the field. 2. A person violating subsection 1 is subject to a scheduled fine as provided in section 805.8B, subsection 3, paragraph 'e'. 3. As used in this section, 'useable portion' means the following: a. For game, that part of an animal which is customarily processed for human consumption. b. For a fur-bearing animal, the fur or hide of the animal. 4.
