502.508 Criminal penalties. 1. Criminal penalties. a. Except as provided in paragraph 'b', a person who willfully violates any provision of this chapter, or any rule adopted or order issued under this chapter, is guilty of a class 'D' felony. b. A person who willfully violates section 502.501 or section 502.502, subsection 1, resulting in a loss of more than ten thousand dollars is guilty of a class 'C' felony. 2. Criminal reference not required. The attorney general or the proper county attorney, with or without a reference from the administrator, may institute criminal proceedings under this chapter. 3. No limitation on other criminal enforcement.
