505.4 Deputy — assistants — bond. 1. The commissioner of insurance shall appoint a first and second deputy commissioner and such other clerks and assistants as shall be needed to assist the commissioner inthe performance of the commissioner’s duty, all of whom shall serve during the pleasureof the commissioner. Before entering upon the duties of their respective offices, deputycommissioners shall give a bond in the penal sum of ten thousand dollars. 2. The commissioner may appoint a deputy commissioner for supervision whom the commissioner may appoint as supervisory or special deputy pursuant to chapter 507C andwho shall perform such other duties as may be assigned by the commissioner. The deputycommissioner for supervision shall receive a salary to be fixed by the commissioner. Thedeputy commissioner for supervision shall be exempt from the merit system provisions ofchapter 8A, subchapter IV, under section 8A.412, subsection 16.
