542B.20 Foreign licensees. 1. A person holding a certificate of licensure as a professional engineer or professional land surveyor issued to the person by a proper authority of a state, territory, or possession ofthe United States, the District of Columbia, or of any foreign country, based on requirementsand qualifications, in the opinion of the board equal to or higher than the requirements ofthis chapter, may be licensed without further examination. 2. A temporary permit to practice engineering may be granted to a person licensed in another state, as prescribed by rule, provided that before practicing within the statethe person shall have applied for licensure or for a temporary permit to practice withoutapplying for licensure and shall have paid the fee prescribed by the board. 3. The application for licensure shall be accompanied by a fee as determined by the board. After the board determines the applicant to be qualified under this section, a certificate oflicensure shall be issued upon receipt of an additional fee as determined by the board.
