602.11103 Life, health, and disability insurance. 1. Persons who were covered by county employee life insurance and accident and health insurance plans prior to becoming state employees as a result of this chapter shallbe permitted to apply prior to becoming state employees for life insurance and health andaccident insurance plans that are available to state employees so that those persons do notsuffer a lapse of insurance coverage as a result of this chapter. The supreme court, afterconsulting with the state comptroller, shall prescribe rules and distribute application formsand take other actions as necessary to enable those persons to elect to have insurancecoverage that is in effect on the date of becoming state employees. The actual insurancecoverage available to a person shall be determined by the plans that are available to stateemployees, irrespective of any greater or lesser benefits as a county or judicial districtemployee. 2.
