602.1210 Selection of chief judges. Not later than December 15 in each odd-numbered year the chief justice shall appoint chief judges of the judicial districts, subject to the approval of the supreme court. The chief judgeof a judicial district shall be appointed from those district judges who are serving withinthe district. A chief judge shall serve for a two-year term and is eligible for reappointment.The supreme court, by majority vote, may remove a person from the position of chief judge.Vacancies in the office of chief judge shall be filled in the same manner.
