626.54 Indemnifying bond — sale and return. When the officer receives notice of ownership or exemption, the officer may forthwith give the plaintiff, the plaintiff’s agent, or attorney, notice that an indemnifying bond is required.Bond may be given by or for the plaintiff, with one or more sufficient sureties, to be approvedby the officer, to the effect that the obligors will indemnify the officer against the damageswhich the officer may sustain in consequence of the seizure or sale of the property, and willpay to any claimant the damages the claimant may sustain in consequence of the seizure orsale, and will warrant to any purchaser of the property such estate or interest therein as issold. After the bond has been given and approved, the officer shall proceed to subject theproperty to the execution, and shall return the indemnifying bond to the court from whichthe execution issued.
