643.14 Inspection — appraisement. When the property is so retained by the defendant, the defendant shall permit the officer and plaintiff to inspect the same, and, if the plaintiff so requests, the officer shall causeit to be examined and appraised by two sworn appraisers chosen by the parties to theaction, or, in their default, by the officer personally, in the manner provided for other casesof appraisement, and in case they cannot agree the officer shall select a third, and anappraisement agreed to by two of them shall be sufficient, and the officer shall return theirappraisement with the writ.
