808B.13 Assistance in installation and use of a pen register or a trap and trace device. 1. Upon the request of the prosecuting attorney or the special state agent authorized to install and use a pen register under this chapter, and as directed by court order, a provider of awire or electronic communication service, landlord, custodian, or other person shall furnishsuch investigative or law enforcement officer forthwith with all information, facilities, andtechnical assistance necessary to accomplish the installation of the pen register unobtrusivelyand with a minimum of interference with the service that the person so ordered by the courtaccords the party with respect to whom the installation and use is to take place. 2. Upon the request of the prosecuting attorney or the special state agent authorized to receive the results of a trap and trace device under this chapter, and as directed by courtorder, a provider of a wire or electronic communication service, landlord, custodian, or otherperson shall install such device forthwith on the appropriate telephone line and shall furnishsuch investigative or law enforcement officer with all additional information, facilities, odian, or otherperson shall install such device forthwith on the appropriate telephone line and shall furnishsuch investigative or law enforcement officer with all additional information, facilities, andtechnical assistance including installation and operation of the device unobtrusively andwith a minimum of interference with the services that the person so ordered by the courtaccords the party with respect to whom the installation and use is to take place. Unlessotherwise ordered by the court, the results of the trap and trace device shall be furnished tothe authorized law enforcement agency designated in the court order at reasonable intervalsduring regular business hours for the duration of the order. 3. A provider of a wire or electronic communication service, landlord, custodian, or other person who furnishes facilities or technical assistance pursuant to this section shall becompensated for reasonable expenses incurred in providing such facilities and assistance. 4.
