§ 286-9-030

286.9 -030 Exemptions from applicability of this subtitle. The provisions of this subtitle shall not apply to: (1) Any bank, trust company, savings and loan association, savings bank, credit union, or consumer loan company that is chartered, licensed, or organized under the laws of this Commonwealth or under feder al law and authorized to do business in this Commonwealth; (2) Any person who cashes checks without receiving, directly or indirectly, any consideration or fee therefor; (3) Any person principally engaged in the retail sale of goods or services who, either as an incident to or independently of a retail sale, may from time to time cash checks for a fee or other consideration; (4) The United States and any department, agency, or instrumentality thereof; and (5) A state or any agency, department, or political subdivision of a state.
