434.310 Spreading false rumors regarding solvency of financial institutions. Any person who willfully and maliciously makes, circulates or transmits to others any false statement, rumor or suggestion, written, printed or by word of mouth, which is directly or by inference derogatory to the financial condition or affects the solvenc y of any bank or trust company doing business in the state, any foreign or domestic insurance company or any savings and loan association doing business in this state, or who counsels, aids, procures, or induces another to start, transmit or circulate any such statement or rumor shall be fined not less than two hundred dollars ($200) nor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), or imprisoned for not less than twenty (20) nor more than one hundred (100) days, or both.
