610.160 Court -ordered participation in child's treatment. Upon recommendation of the Department of Juvenile Justice or the cabinet or upon its own initiative, the court may order any parent, guardian, or person exercising similar custodial control or supervision of a child referred to the court to cooperate and a ctively participate in such treatment or social service programs which might reasonably be expected to meet the goal of enhancing the best interests of the child and family unity. When it appears to the court that the parents have failed to cooperate and a ctively participate in said programs, the court may issue a summons for the parents of the child which shall require them to attend a hearing in which they may rebut any evidence which may allege that they have violated a court order. The court may exercis e its powers of contempt in addition to any other remedy provided by law to compel obedience of the parents, guardian, or person exercising custodial control or supervision of the child to the court's orders.
