RS 11:1397 - Pensions for widows of Confederate veterans Pensions not exceeding sixty dollars per month, payable monthly, shall be paid to persons possessing the following qualifications: (1) Widows of Confederate veterans who served from the date of their enlistment until the close of the late Civil War or until honorably discharged, whose marriages were contracted prior to December 31, 1905, and who have been bona fide residents of the state of Louisiana for at least five years next preceding the date of their application for a pension. Such pensions shall cease upon remarriage. (2) Widows of Confederate veterans who served from the date of their enlistment until the close of the late Civil War, or until honorably discharged, whose marriages were contracted subsequent to December 31, 1905, who have not remarried and who have attained the age of sixty years, and who have been bona fide residents of the state of Louisiana for at least five years next preceding the date of their application for a pension.
