RS 11:3412 - Military service credit; computation of length of service A. An employee of Fire Protection District No. One who is called from private life into military service of the United States or the state of Louisiana in time of war, peril, insurrection, flood, calamity, or other cause, may apply such military service time as service with the fire protection district for the purpose of retirement benefits under this Part, if such member actually was in the active service of Fire Protection District No. One prior to the commencement of his military service and if the member applies for reemployment with the fire protection district within ninety days after his release from such military service. All dues and benefits are waived during this period. B. Time lost by an employee of Fire Protection District No. One on account of illness, injury, physical infirmity, or disability shall constitute service in Fire Protection District No. One and shall count as service toward earning the right to retirement benefits for the employee; however, time lost by an employee of Fire Protection District No. One, who is drawing benefits under R.S.

and shall count as service toward earning the right to retirement benefits for the employee; however, time lost by an employee of Fire Protection District No. One, who is drawing benefits under R.S. 11:3410(3), shall not constitute serving in Fire Protection District No. One and shall not count as service toward earning the right to retirement benefits for the employee. C. Time served prior to July 31, 1968 by employees in the active service of Fire Protection District No. One shall be considered as service in the said fire protection district for the retirement provisions of this Part.
