RS 13:1629 - Probation; staff The chief judge of the juvenile court may appoint and commission a chief probation officer and such other probation officers as are necessary, who shall be officers of the court. They shall make all investigations and perform such other duties, under the supervision of the court, as the chief judge directs. All commissioned probation officers shall have the power and authority of deputy sheriffs to make arrests and the necessary authority to enable them to perform the duties incident to their office. The salaries of the probation officers shall be fixed and paid by the governing authority of the parish of East Baton Rouge. Acts 1990, No. 158, §1, eff. July 1, 1990; Acts 1994, 3rd Ex.
