RS 13:5113 - Collection of court costs from convicted felons A. Whenever a person convicted of a criminal offense and sentenced to the custody of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections obtains a money judgment against the state, any agency thereof, or any official or employee of the state for which the state will provide indemnification under R.S. 13:5108.1 or R.S. 13:5108.2, the attorney general shall notify the clerk of court of the parish in which the person was convicted and the state treasurer of such judgment. B. Within thirty days after receipt of the notice, the clerk of court shall send to the attorney general and the state treasurer a statement detailing the costs of prosecution. C. Upon receipt of the statement from the clerk, the attorney general shall take such action as is necessary to seize the judgment rendered in favor of the convicted felon for the purpose of paying the costs of prosecution. D. All such money collected by the attorney general shall be turned over to the state treasurer who shall disburse the funds according to law. Acts 1984, No. 542, §1.
