RS 13:5560 - Liability insurance Sheriffs of the parishes of the state of Louisiana are hereby authorized to contract for insurance with any insurance company authorized to do business under the laws of the state of Louisiana to cover loss or damage from any negligent acts of the sheriff or his deputies, in the performance of the duties of his office, the premiums on said insurance to be paid by the sheriff as an expense of his office out of the sheriff's general fund, except that the cost of insurance premiums for the criminal sheriff of the parish of Orleans and the civil sheriff for the parish of Orleans shall be paid from the fund or funds if provided or appropriated for the payment of all expenses of their offices.
