RS 14:102.24 - Participation in cockfighting A. It shall be unlawful for any person to attend a cockfight, or to bet on a cockfight, or to pay admission at any location to view or bet on a cockfight. B. As used in this Section, the following words and phrases have the following meaning ascribed to them: (1) 'Chicken' means any bird which is of the species Gallus gallus, whether domestic or feral. (2) 'Cockfight' means a contest wherein chickens are set against one another with the intention that they engage in combat. C. Whoever violates the provisions of this Section shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars, or imprisoned for not more than six months, or both. Acts 2010, No. 114, §1.
