RS 14:135 - Public salary deduction A. Public salary deduction is committed when any public officer or public employee retains or diverts for his own use or the use of any other person or political organization, any part of the salary or fees allowed by law to any other public officer or public employee, unless authorized in writing by the said public officer or public employee. B. Whoever commits the crime of public salary deduction shall be imprisoned for not more than five years with or without hard labor or shall be fined not more than five thousand dollars or both.
