RS 16:55 - Guidelines for determination of additional assistant district attorneys A. The guidelines in this Section shall be followed in determining the authorization for additional assistant district attorneys in any judicial district. B. The absolute minimum number of assistant district attorneys required to staff a district attorney's office may be ascertained by adding: (1) One assistant district attorney per division of court (or judge). (2) In jurisdictions serving a population in excess of fifty thousand citizens, the office would require an additional assistant district attorney to share the administrative duties and additional workload. C. In both larger and smaller jurisdictions, a need for additional assistant district attorneys over and above the minimum indicated in the above described criteria may be justified by workload generated or complicated by the following factors: (1) The number of parishes in the judicial district. (2) The number of civil bodies represented by the district attorney's office. (3) The volume of civil work as a result of representing civil bodies. (4) The volume of felony cases. (5) The volume of misdemeanor cases.
