RS 17:52.1 - Appointment of new members upon increase in membership Whenever the membership of a parish school board is increased on account of the increase in membership by the creation of additional wards or the increase of membership to which a ward is entitled, the new members shall be appointed by the governor. Such new members shall possess the qualifications required by law for school board members; they shall be allotted and their terms shall expire as is provided in R.S. 17:52; and their successors shall be elected as is provided by law for the election of school board members.
