RS 22:172 - Certificate of authority When the commissioner of insurance has been notified that the required bona fide applications have been received and that the reciprocal insurer has received from each subscriber the full annual premium or premium deposit required for each policy applied for and has on hand the initial surplus provided in R.S. 22:165, if it is to transact one kind of business only is on hand, he shall conduct an examination of the insurer. If he finds that the organization is complete, and that all of the requirements of the Code have been met, he shall issue to the attorney-in-fact a certificate of authority in the name of the insurer to transact the kind or kinds of business specified therein. No attorney-in-fact shall transact any business of insurance until the certificate of authority has been received nor any business not specified in such certificate of authority.
