RS 24:935 - Council responsibilities The council shall: (1) Determine if a state-administered sex offender treatment program is necessary, identify needed services for the treatment and rehabilitation of sex offenders, report to the governor, the president of the Senate, and the speaker of the House of Representatives about the nature of the services and the funding necessary for the service. (2) Evaluate in-state and out-of-state programs for sex offender treatment and recommend to the head of current programs methods of improving the programs. (3) Collect and disseminate information to judicial officers, probation or parole workers, and the general public about available sex offender treatment programs. (4) Distribute money appropriated by the legislature to the council or otherwise made available to the council for the development, operation, or evaluation of sex offender treatment programs. (5) Advise and assist agencies in coordinating procedures to provide treatment services that may include community-based programs. (6) Advise the office of behavioral health of the Louisiana Department of Health on the establishment and maintenance of a registry of individuals and programs
