RS 25:1209 - Funding A. The board shall be funded through an ad valorem tax levied and administered by the governing authority. B. In addition to Subsection A, the governing authority may levy a special ad valorem tax, as provided by constitution and law, for the maintenance and support of museums if authorized by the electorate voting thereon at an election called and held for that purpose in the manner provided by law. C. Funds received by the board, including private donations or grants, shall be used according to the approved budget for the proper operation of the museums according to law, ordinance, and accepted standards of museum operations, following American Association of Museums guidelines, including the provision of a competent, professional, technical and administrative staff.
