RS 25:235 - Funds for construction; acquisition; maintenance; support A. The board may, on its own initiative, and shall, when requested by petition of not less than twenty-five percent of the duly qualified property taxpayers resident, submit to the property taxpayers a proposition for a special tax, as provided by the constitution and laws of this state, for the purposes of this Part. This tax, if approved, shall be levied and assessed annually as authorized by the voters and collected and used exclusively for the purposes of this Part. B. St. Landry Parish and each municipality within the district shall contribute its pro rata or equitable share of the cost and expenses. C. St. Landry Parish and each municipality within the district may use general funds or special funds voted, levied, and collected for the purpose of this Part to fund the district.
