RS 29:513 - Powers of adjutant general The adjutant general may make rules and regulations to govern the institution. He may enter into contracts for the rent, construction, and repair of buildings used by or belonging to the institution and for the purchase of land upon which to construct them. He may appoint the superintendent, the matrons, the physicians, and the other officers and employees that he deems proper for good management. He may fix their compensation and may remove them at his discretion. He may solicit contributions and may accept donations inter vivos or mortis causa for the institution. He may sue and be sued and otherwise appear in all actions pertaining to the institution. In the event they should be no longer needed for the purposes set out in this Part, the adjutant general, with the approval of the governor, may use the facilities for any military purposes he determines in the administration of his office as adjutant general. However, they shall not be used as a hospital, home, or institution for persons with contagious diseases.
