RS 30:2351.29 - Medical surveillance; preservation of records A. The state health officer shall develop standards for a medical surveillance program for all individuals engaged in lead hazard reduction activities, which shall be consistent with those required under applicable federal law and regulations. B. Lead contractors shall institute a medical surveillance program for all employees who are or will be exposed to lead-containing substances. All medical surveillance records shall be maintained for the duration of employment plus thirty years. Lead contractors may utilize the services of competent organizations such as industry trade associations and employee associations to maintain the records as required by this Section. C. Whenever a lead contractor ceases to operate and there is no successor entity to receive and retain the records for the prescribed period, the lead contractor shall notify the secretary at least ninety days prior to disposal and, upon request, transmit the records to the secretary.
