RS 32:404.1 - Commercial driver's license applicant; domiciliary of state requirement; time limits; reciprocity An applicant for a commercial driver's license must be a domiciliary of this state, unless applying for a nonresident commercial driver's license. A person domiciled in and holding a valid commercial driver's license from another jurisdiction meeting the standards contained in 49 Code of Federal Regulations Part 383, shall not be required to obtain a Louisiana driver's license while operating in this state. However, a holder of a commercial driver's license who has been a resident of this state for thirty days or longer shall be considered a domiciliary of this state for purposes of this Chapter and shall obtain a Louisiana commercial driver's license within the time period specified in R.S. 32:404. An applicant for a Louisiana commercial driver's license shall surrender any driver's license from this or any other state or any jurisdiction meeting the requirements contained in 49 Code of Federal Regulations Part 383.
