RS 32:709 - Numbers assigned; indices; files The commissioner shall assign a number for each certificate of title and shall maintain in his office indices for such certificates of title. The commissioner shall not be required to retain on file any bill of sale or duplicate thereof covering any vehicle for a period longer than seven years after the date of the filing thereof and thereafter the same may be destroyed.
