RS 33:1966 - Continuous duty in case of emergency If an emergency should arise the chief engineer may order all of the forces, both day and night, to remain on continuous duty until the emergency has passed, at which time the fire department shall return to the two shifts. During the period of continuous service the men shall be granted time to go home for their meals three times daily, one hour for each meal.
