RS 33:2431 - Legal services If this Part or its enforcement by the director or the commission is called into question in any judicial proceeding, or if any person fails or refuses to comply with the lawful orders or direction of the commission, the commission or the director may call upon the city attorney or may, with the advice and consent of the governing authority through the mayor, employ independent counsel to represent it in sustaining this Part and the enforcement thereof. The independent counsel shall be paid as other employees of the department are paid.
