RS 34:852.5 - Acquisition of vessel or outboard motor by dealer If a dealer buys or acquires a used outboard motor or numbered vessel for resale, the dealer shall report the acquisition to the department on forms the department provides, or the dealer may apply for and obtain a certificate of title as provided in this Part. If a dealer acquires a new vessel or outboard motor and he wishes to obtain a title for resale, the dealer may apply for and obtain a certificate of title as provided in this Part. Every dealer transferring a vessel or outboard motor he wishes to have titled shall assign the title to the new owner or the new owner's designee or, in the case of a new vessel or outboard motor, assign either the certificate of origin or, if titled, the title.
