RS 37:2833 - Definitions In this Chapter, unless the contents require a different definition, (1) 'Polygraph' means an instrument or apparatus for simultaneously recording cardiovascular pressure, pulse and respiration, and variations in electrical resistance of the skin, as defined in Dorland's Medical Dictionary 21st addition. (2) 'Polygraph Instrumentation' means the minimum required instrumentation which may be used by a certified polygraphist as defined herein. (3) 'Board' means the Louisiana State Polygraph Board, those individuals appointed by the governor of the state of Louisiana with the advice and consent of the Senate to regulate all persons who are certified polygraphists and who purport to be able to detect or to verify the truth through the use of instrumentation. (4) 'Secretary' means the member of the Polygraph Board selected by the board to act as the secretary. (5) 'Internship' means the study of polygraph examinations and of the administration of polygraph examinations by a trainee under the personal supervision and control of a certified polygraphist in accordance with a course of study prescribed by the board at the commencement of such internship.

(6) 'Person' means any natural person, firm, association, partnership, or corporation. (7) 'Polygraphist' means any person who purports to be able to detect deception or verify the truth of statements through polygraph instrumentation as herein described.
