RS 37:2837 - Unauthorized practice A. It shall be unlawful for any person, including an employee of any municipality, any parish, or the state, to administer a polygraph or other examination utilizing polygraph instrumentation for the purpose of detecting deception or verifying the truth of statements, to attempt to hold himself out as a polygraphist, or to refer to himself by any other title which would indicate or which is intended to indicate to members of the public that he is qualified to apply polygraph instrumentation to detect deception or to verify the truth of statements in the state of Louisiana, without first being certified as a polygraphist by the board as provided herein. B. It shall, however, be lawful for students attending a polygraph school, approved by the Louisiana Department of Education and the American Polygraph Association, to conduct noncompensatory, live examinations during the final week of said school under the direct supervision of a Louisiana certified polygraphist.
