RS 39:1232 - Responsibility of depositing officials The treasurer of any depositing authority, or any other public official, having custody of public funds, shall not be responsible for any money or moneys deposited in the bank selected by the authority having the right to select the depository under the provision of this Chapter, but depositing authorities shall be responsible for the safekeeping and returning of the collateral deposited with them by fiscal agent banks and depositories as security for the deposits made with fiscal agent banks and depositories.
