RS 40:46 - Amendments to certificate of birth A. The state registrar of vital records is authorized to amend an original birth certificate in accordance with Louisiana law. B. Any change in the surname of a child from that required or allowed in R.S. 40:34.2 shall be made by court order as provided in R.S. 13:4751 through 4755 or as otherwise provided in this Chapter or by rules promulgated thereunder.
