RS 44:101 - General powers A. Within their respective parishes, recorders shall be recorder of mortgages, register of conveyances and marriage contracts, recorder of births and deaths and recorder of marks and brands. B. All acts executed by recorders in conformity with the provisions of article two thousand two hundred and thirty four of the Revised Civil Code of 1870 shall be authentic acts. C. Recorders may make inventories, appraisements, partitions, receive wills, make matrimonial contracts, conveyances, protests, and generally all contracts and instruments of writing; hold family meetings and meetings of creditors; receive acknowledgments of instruments under private signature; administer oaths in all cases connected with the discharge of their duties; affix the seal upon the effects of deceased persons and raise the seals.
