RS 44:361 - Use of abstractors' records authorized Whenever the public records or any part of the archives of the office of the clerk of court and ex-officio recorder, of any parish in this state, have been destroyed by fire, or may hereafter be destroyed by fire, in addition to the means already provided by law for their restoration, they may be restored by using abstracts of the records made by competent abstractors of sound integrity, and also by using photographic and rectigraphic copies of the records, made by competent artisans and abstractors of integrity, provided the abstracts, photographs and rectigraphs were made in the ordinary course of business to be used in furnishing abstracts of title to property or to be used in furnishing copies, or abstracts of the contents of the records.
