RS 48:1101 - Operation and maintenance of bridges and ferries Each bridge and ferry, when acquired or constructed by the authority and opened to traffic shall be maintained and kept in good condition and repair by the authority, and shall be policed and operated by such force of police, toll-takers and other operating employees as the authority may in its discretion employ. The authority may, however, contract with any state agency authorized by law to enter into such a contract for the operation and maintenance of such bridge or ferry upon such terms and conditions as may be stipulated in such contract not inconsistent with the covenants made by the authority with the holders of its bonds.
