RS 48:2179 - Establish feasibility; prior written approval A. A compact created and established pursuant to this Chapter may construct and operate transit way facilities along a transit corridor within the state under the terms and conditions set forth in this Chapter, with the prior express written consent of the affected governing bodies within the geographic boundaries of such compact after public hearing. The facilities shall be part of the approved transportation plan and program of the department and the local metropolitan planning organization, where applicable. B. Prior to the initiation of environmental impact statements and preliminary engineering, feasibility studies shall first be conducted to substantiate project need and justification.
