RS 48:994 - Unauthorized transportation across streams within certain distance of ferry unlawful; penalty No person, not a lessee of a public ferry shall transport any person for pay or hire across the Mississippi River or any other stream in this state in any craft, within a distance of two miles of a public ferry landing duly established under the resolutions or ordinances of any parish or municipal corporation in this state, except the parish of Orleans. Whoever violates this Section shall be fined not less than ten dollars nor more than twenty-five dollars for each offense. In default of payment of the fine he shall be imprisoned for not less than ten days nor more than thirty days.
