RS 9:4721 - Sugar refinery and mill employees All managers, mechanics, or laborers employed in sugar refineries, sugar mills, or syrup mills have a privilege on all sugar, syrup, or molasses manufactured during the season by the refineries or mills where they are employed for the payment of their salaries or wages for a period of thirty days from the maturity of the debt. This privilege may be enforced by the writ of sequestration, without the necessity of furnishing security therefor. This privilege has no effect against bona fide purchasers, but it is superior to the privilege granted by R.S. 9:4543 to unpaid vendors of sugar cane during the season. Amended by Acts 1960, No. 31, §1; eff. Jan. 1, 1961.
