Justice of the Superior Court to sit in District Court The Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court may assign a Justice of the Superior Court who had been serving as a Judge of the District Court and who has been nominated and confirmed as a Justice of the Superior Court to sit in the District Court in order to finish any cases that the justice had presided over as a Judge of the District Court and that remain unresolved after the justice's confirmation. [PL 2019, c. 475, §42 (AMD).]When so assigned, the justice has the same authority and jurisdiction in the District Court as a regular Judge of the District Court. The assigned justice may hear all matters and issue all orders, notices, decrees and judgments that any Judge of the District Court may hear and issue. [PL 1987, c. 769, Pt.
