Section 2-305 - Failure to Bring Person Into Court

(a) Any officer who neglects or refuses to bring a detained person into court when a writ of habeas corpus commands it shall forfeit $500 to the person detained. (b) On motion of the State’s Attorney the court may order judgment to be entered against the sheriff in the amount of the amercement, or in the amount of the penalty or judgment and costs entered against the person who failed to appear.
