Section 14-401 - Disciplinary Panels

(a) There are two disciplinary panels through which allegations of grounds for disciplinary action against a licensed physician or an allied health professional shall be resolved. (b) (1) The chair of the Board shall assign each member of the Board to one of the disciplinary panels established under subsection (a) of this section. (2) Each disciplinary panel shall consist of 11 Board members. (3) Of the 11 members on a disciplinary panel: (i) 6 shall be practicing licensed physicians; (ii) 1 shall be a practicing licensed physician with a full–time faculty appointment; (iii) 1 shall be a representative of the Department or a licensed physician assistant; and (iv) 3 shall be members of the public. (4) The chair of the Board may serve as an ex–officio member of the disciplinary panel to which the chair was not assigned as a member under paragraph (1) of this subsection. (5) The chair of the Board shall select a member of each disciplinary panel to be the chair of the disciplinary panel. (6) A quorum of a disciplinary panel consists of 7 members.
